Association Inter University Centre Dubrovnik is an NGO offering a legal framework for the work of the Inter-University Centre Dubrovnik (IUC). IUC is an independent centre for advanced study, grounded in and sustained by its international network of partner universities. Building upon its location and its history, the IUC serves as a bridge between regions within Europe and between the European region and the world by connecting scientific communities and connecting communities through science. From its establishment in 1972, the IUC brought together scholars and students from different countries, cultures and academic disciplines to advanced research and higher education courses, conferences and workshops. IUC’s programmes are all international, mostly interdisciplinary and they tackle current social and academic concerns. Home universities of organising course and conference directors offer formal recognitions (ECTS) to students for fulfilling the requirements of a specific programme. Numerous publications, formation of new networks or even joint double degree programmes are results of IUC activities. IUC emphasizes and supports inter-disciplinary and cross-national collaboration on global challenges. It is also supporting new forms of blended learning, and free access to video lectures, making academic topics and findings available to wider general public.
